The Lifestyle of the Cocktail

I really love cocktails, they are bloody lovely. For a while I have been looking for the best music for mixing cocktails, and found it largely depends on what sort of cocktails you are making and for what event. Although admittedly shake your booty by KC and the sunshine band is always fun and informative. To be honest the music may depend much more on what sort of event you are shaking cocktails for, and if you are not shaking cocktails for an event but merely for yourself then don’t put on music, just stop what you’re doing. In any event I always mix cocktails and cook better to upbeat music, usually hip hop but that doesn’t always go that well with a cocktail party unless you like drinking martinis out of pimp cups.

Next there is the difficult question of what to wear, it’s always tempting to wear a white shirt but if you are making anything other than a martini, and especially if you are making cosmopolitans you end up looking like an extra from a Persil advert, and not in a good way. I actually have very little constructive advice on what to wear when shaking cocktails except for a dark coloured linen shirt is always good, it is more difficult to see any stains on, it is fairly easy to wash and it is light because shaking actually makes you quite warm, however this is advice is pretty much shit for winter but if you’re still that worried you probably just worry too much.

Also there is an art when drinking cocktails, of always looking good but not like an enormous ponce, i.e like Cary Grant, a man who looked seriously cool with a cocktail,

but not looking like you’re trying too hard to be Cary Grant. Also once you have lost your poise it is importance to do it without breaking things and with an air of artistic aplomb.
